Welcome to Hunan, the hometown of Chairman Mao — a land where fiery chili peppers meet a passionate spirit, and where breathtaking mountains and rivers paint a picture of natural beauty. Upon arrival in the vibrant capital city of Changsha, you’ll be warmly greeted by our friendly and professional tour representative and escorted to your hotel for a restful night’s sleep.

Included Meals: In-flight meals
Accommodation: Steigenberger Hotel Changsha 5* or similar

Transfers:
A group airport transfer is included in this tour package, with a wait time of up to 2 hours, depending on other passengers’ arrival times.
For a more comfortable and personalised experience, you’re welcome to request a private 5-seater transfer through us at an additional cost. Let us know if you’d like more details or would like to add this option to your booking.

Start your day with a delightful buffet breakfast at the hotel before setting off on a full-day tour led by your knowledgeable tour leader. Your first stop is the Hunan Provincial Museum — a fascinating gateway into the region's rich cultural history. The museum is best known for its extraordinary discoveries from the Han Dynasty (202 BC – 220 AD) Mawangdui tombs, including the remarkably well-preserved female corpse of Lady Xin Zhui and an astonishingly delicate silk garment that weighs just 49 grams — as light as a wisp of smoke and as thin as a cicada’s wing.

In the afternoon, step into a nostalgic world at Wenheyou, a cultural complex that recreates the atmosphere of 1980s China. Then, head to the iconic Changsha IFC tower and explore the nearby Huangxinglu Pedestrian Street and Pozi Street — the heart of the city’s bustling commercial district, packed with local delicacies, fashion boutiques, and entertainment. In the evening, immerse yourself in the energetic vibe of the Yangfan Night Market, one of China’s most popular nighttime attractions, where an endless variety of street food and specialty items will keep you exploring well into the night.

Included Meals: Breakfast
Accommodation: Steigenberger Hotel Changsha 5* or similar

After breakfast, travel by coach to Fenghuang Ancient Town, a destination often celebrated as one of China’s most beautiful towns. Nestled along the river and home to 28 ethnic minority groups, Fenghuang charms visitors with its rich cultural heritage, traditional architecture, distinctive local costumes and authentic regional cuisine.

Stroll along cobblestone streets lined with riverside wooden stilt houses, and explore historic temples, ancestral halls and former residences of notable figures that reflect the town’s timeless atmosphere. Enjoy a relaxing boat ride along the tranquil Tuojiang River, where ancient stilted homes and lush natural scenery create a truly poetic setting.

Visit the iconic Hongqiao Art Building, an elegant covered bridge that serves as both an important crossing and a vibrant cultural landmark. Climb to the upper level for panoramic views over the ancient town. As evening falls, take in the magical night scenery when Fenghuang is softly illuminated, creating a romantic and unforgettable experience.

Included Meals: Breakfast
Accommodation: Kasen International Hotel 5* or similar

After breakfast, travel by coach to Zhangjiajie, a destination world-famous for its dramatic sandstone pillars and the real-life inspiration for the floating Hallelujah Mountains in the movie Avatar. Upon arrival, begin your adventure at Tianmen Mountain, where you will take the world’s longest alpine cable car, soaring high above deep valleys and towering karst peaks for breathtaking panoramic views.

Challenge yourself on the thrilling Glass Skywalk, suspended 1,430 meters above the ground along the cliffside. This transparent walkway offers an exhilarating experience and unforgettable views of the surrounding mountains. Continue to the famous Tianmen Cave, also known as “Heaven’s Gate Hole”, a spectacular natural arch standing over 30 meters high. A convenient escalator will bring you directly to its base, allowing you to admire this extraordinary geological wonder up close.

In the evening, visit Zhangjiajie’s 72 Marvelous Tower, one of the city’s newest landmarks. Inspired by traditional Chinese architecture and beautifully illuminated at night, this vibrant cultural complex offers a lively atmosphere filled with local food, crafts, and stunning photo opportunities.

For those interested, an optional evening performance of Tianmen Fox Fairy is available. (Optional tour, at your own expense.)

Included Meals: Breakfast
Accommodation: Pullman Hotel Zhangjiajie 5* or similar

Extra Activities You Can Join:
Tianmen Fox Fairy Show
Experience one of Zhangjiajie’s most famous night performances — the spectacular Tianmen Fox Fairy open-air show. Set against the dramatic backdrop of Tianmen Mountain, this large-scale production combines traditional Tujia folklore, music, dance, and advanced stage lighting to present a romantic legend in a breathtaking natural mountain theatre.

Note
The optional tour is not included in the main package and must be paid for on-site. The listed price is per person. Operation of the tour is subject to a minimum group size being met.

After breakfast, set off for the Wulingyuan Scenic Area, home to the renowned Zhangjiajie National Forest Park - a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site. Often described as “a miniature fairyland and an enlarged bonsai,” Wulingyuan is famous for its surreal landscape of towering, mist-covered peaks that evoke the imagery of a mythical realm.

Begin your adventure with a ride on the Bailong Elevator, the world’s tallest outdoor glass elevator, dramatically built into the side of a cliff. In just two minutes, you'll ascend to breathtaking heights and be rewarded with panoramic views of the legendary Avatar Hallelujah Mountains, the First Bridge, Mihuntai, and more.

Next, enjoy a scenic hike along the Golden Whip Stream, a peaceful and picturesque trail flanked by crystal-clear waters, lush forested mountains, sheer cliffs, and serene valleys. Keep an eye out for the charming local residents - playful monkeys that add to the natural magic of the area.

Conclude your day with a ride on a small sightseeing train through the Ten Miles Gallery, a landscape famed for its uniquely shaped peaks, striking rock formations, and storybook beauty - a fitting finale to a day immersed in Zhangjiajie’s natural wonders.

Included Meals: Breakfast
Accommodation: Pullman Hotel Zhangjiajie 5* or similar

After breakfast, prepare for an exhilarating day as we head to explore the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge, the world’s highest and longest glass bridge. This extraordinary architectural marvel stretches approximately 430 meters across the Grand Canyon and rises about 300 meters above the canyon floor. Capable of supporting up to 800 people at once, the bridge is entirely paved with transparent glass and features no steel reinforcement framework, making it a fully transparent structure that offers both breathtaking views and an adrenaline-pumping experience. At the center of the bridge lies the world’s highest bungee jumping platform, adding to its record-breaking prestige (Optional tour, at your own expense). Walking across this glass bridge will undoubtedly be one of the coolest and most memorable experiences of your tour.

After taking in Zhangjiajie’s stunning natural beauty, we’ll spend the afternoon immersed in local culture with a visit to a traditional wet market. Here, you'll explore the vibrant daily life of the locals — browsing stalls filled with fresh vegetables, meats, and fruits that form the foundation of the Chinese diet. The market also offers a variety of delicious snacks and unique regional delicacies you may have never encountered before, offering a flavorful and authentic taste of everyday life in Zhangjiajie.

For those interested, an optional evening performance of Zhangjiajie Charming Xiangxi Show is available.

Included Meals: Breakfast

Extra Activities You Can Join:
Zhangjiajie Charming Xiangxi Show
Experience one of Zhangjiajie’s most popular cultural performances — the Charming Xiangxi Show. This vibrant stage production brings the traditions of the Tujia and Miao ethnic minorities to life through colorful costumes, energetic dances, traditional music, and captivating storytelling. Blending folklore, acrobatics, and dramatic stage effects, the show offers a fascinating glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of the Xiangxi region and is a wonderful way to spend an entertaining evening in Zhangjiajie.

Note
The optional tour is not included in the main package and must be paid for on-site. The listed price is per person. Operation of the tour is subject to a minimum group size being met.

Today, we bid farewell to the breathtaking landscapes of Zhangjiajie and board a high-speed train to Chongqing, a city steeped in history and bursting with character. Once the provisional capital of China during World War II, Chongqing is famously known as the "River City" and the "Foggy Capital," and is celebrated for its dramatic mountainous terrain. Upon arrival, you’ll be warmly welcomed and transferred to your hotel to settle in.

In the afternoon, begin your exploration with a visit to the bustling Liberation Monument Pedestrian Street and the flavorful Bayi Road Food Street, both offering a lively introduction to the city’s vibrant urban culture. Then, venture underground to experience China’s deepest subway station and enjoy a ride on the metro — a unique way to witness the city’s complex multi-level structure.

Continue to Shancheng Alley, a living museum of Chongqing’s rich and layered history. Here, you’ll encounter remnants from different eras: ancient city walls built in the early 15th century, foreign consulates and churches from the late 19th century, as well as stilted houses, traditional courtyard homes, and World War II air-raid shelters. The area also showcases schools and residential buildings constructed during various phases of New China, making it one of the few places in Chongqing where original residential architecture from multiple eras still coexists.

This evening, prepare for an unforgettable culinary experience as you visit the world’s largest hot pot restaurant (at your own cost). As massive as a mountain and capable of seating up to 10,000 diners simultaneously, this legendary venue invites you to indulge in the bold, spicy flavors of authentic Chongqing hot pot, a must-try highlight for any food lover.

Included Meals: Breakfast
Accommodation: Glenview ITC PLAZA Chongqing 5* or similar

Today, venture out to explore the Dazu Rock Carvings, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site and a true masterpiece of ancient Chinese artistry. Dating back to the early 7th century, these remarkable sculptures have stood the test of time for over a thousand years. Celebrated for their monumental scale, exquisite craftsmanship, diverse themes, and rich cultural and religious significance, the carvings are considered the pinnacle of late-period Chinese grotto art and remain impressively well-preserved.

Upon returning to Chongqing, prepare to be amazed by the fascinating sight at Liziba Station, where a metro train passes directly through a residential building — a unique symbol of the city's ingenious urban design. Continue to the charming ancient town of Ciqikou, known for its well-preserved Ming and Qing dynasty architecture, traditional teahouses, local crafts, and street food.

As night falls, enjoy a stunning finale to your day with a visit to Hongya Cave, one of Chongqing’s most iconic attractions. Perched on a cliffside above the Jialing River, its illuminated stilted buildings, cascading lights, and lively atmosphere offer a spectacular night view that perfectly captures the city’s magical blend of history and modernity.

Supplier Fees: In the event that the tour you have purchased is unable to proceed or a travel supplier is unable to fulfil the tour due to external circumstances (such as a Force Majeure event), there may be a fee or amount of money that is withheld by our suppliers and is unrecoverable. This could be due to non-refundable airline tickets, cancellation penalties with cruise cabins, or unrecoverable payments with our land/accommodation partners. As your agent, Better Trip is committed to covering these costs and will make every effort to recover all funds committed and/or paid for your tour. However, please note that this may not be possible in every circumstance. If refunds are unavailable from our suppliers, we will strive to obtain a travel credit with the best possible terms and communicate these options to you. If Better Trip cannot obtain a refund, travel service credit, or only a partial refund, this cost will be passed on to the customer as a supplier fee. Partial participation (e.g., using only transport or selected activities) is not allowed under this pricing, and those wishing to opt out must book a land-only or customised private package at the applicable rate. Requests to use only parts of the package, such as flights and hotels, will not be accepted, and we reserve the right to cancel such bookings under the standard cancellation policy.

To ensure a smooth journey, it is imperative that you possess a valid passport and have obtained all necessary visas, permits, and certificates for the countries you plan to visit. Please note that passports are mandatory for all travellers when departing from Australia. For a permanent resident to travel on a foreign passport, you must also hold an Australian Re-entry Visa. Additionally, many countries require foreign nationals entering their borders to possess a passport with a minimum of six months validity. Remember, the ultimate responsibility for ensuring the accuracy of your documentation lies with you as the individual traveller. Any fines, penalties, or expenses incurred due to incorrect documentation will be solely your responsibility.
